The hardware is completely off except for the clock module. The device wakes up in intervals of the transmission interval and sends a status message with GPS coordinates and battery voltage to the server. The transmission interval begins with the end of the battery charging. In deep sleep mode there is a message once a day.

If the object where EQTrace click is installed at rest, only the acceleration sensor will be monitored.
As soon as the acceleration sensor registers movement, the time stamp for the start and end of the
movement is saved. 3 hours after the movement stops, the recorded data will be
transferred to the server.

Additional to the data transmission after the movement stops, a status
message is sent once a day. This status message will be transfered even if no movement
has been registered.
